Welcome -- Station Idenitification

It's not the best time ever to be a journalist, even if the warnings came early and often as I navigated easily through my Journalism School courses. Before the fit ever hit the shan in the stock market, I was already taking a look at the state of newspaper affairs and fearing the worst.

Now it's come, and my dreams of using work at a weekly paper to get on board with a daily have been all but dashed. I'm, understandably, a bit annoyed at the news. But, thanks to the sage, little heeded advice of professors nearly 10 years ago, I have no one but myself to blame.

What's it gonna take to be a journalist down the road? Text messaging and bullshit like Twitter are making the ability to read actual sentences less and less important. It's kept me up at night. Feeling like a dying breed, I'm taking my semi-informed vitriol to the Interwebs. Here's hoping I stumble across something relevant or funny along the way.

I'm Jon Reed. I cuss a lot, smoke too much, care too little and, no matter how much I let on to the contrary, I do care what people think.
